Requirements

The Sigma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi now recognizes two primary levels of student membership: Pledge Members and Young Professional Members.

Note: Membership is not required to attend general meetings or speaker events. However, participation in office visits, social events, and professional dinners is limited to members. All students are encouraged to attend general meetings and engage with our speakers.

  • The following requirements must be met in order to successfully pledge the Sigma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi:

    • Academic Standing: Pledges must be enrolled in or have completed AIS 301 (or its equivalent) and must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Students are not required to be declared in the accounting major, provided they meet the GPA and course requirements.

    • Application and Dues: All pledges must apply via the madisonbap.com website.

      • New pledge members are required to pay a one-time initiation fee of $95.

      • Continuing pledges will pay $40 per semester.

      • Dues must be submitted by the date of the fifth professional meeting. Payment must be made online via debit or credit card through our website, madisonbap.org. Pledges who do not pay by this date will be removed from the pledge class but may re-pledge the following semester if eligible.

      • If you are unable to pay the required dues, please reach out. The chapter offers options to help cover or accommodate the fee.

    • Participation Requirements: Pledges are expected to attend all scheduled professional meetings, pledge social events, and elections during their pledge semester; however, up to three excused absences are permitted with prior approval.

  • Young Professional membership is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in accounting but have not yet taken AIS 301. To qualify as a Young Professional, students must:

    • Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in accounting

    • Pay $40 per semester

    • Transition to Pledge Member status upon completion of AIS 301 is required

    • If you are unable to pay the required dues, please reach out. The chapter offers options to help cover or accommodate the fee.
